TOUR DESCRIPTION
Welcome to a captivating culinary journey through the historic streets of Rome, where the beauty of the city harmoniously blends with the richness of its unique flavors. Explore Rome’s rich culinary scene with our curated food tour, promising delightful experiences at every stop.
Our culinary walk begins at the vibrant and historic Campo de’ Fiori, renowned for its daily food market. Enjoy the vibrant local market (only in the morning departure) and breathe its charming atmosphere. Here, you can savor the famous “supplì”, irresistible rice balls filled with melted mozzarella and ragù, a true Roman delicacy. Next, you will also experience a visit to a typical salumeria, where you’ll indulge in a selection of fine salamis and enjoy wine, providing the perfect essence of your Roman food experience.
Continuing your journey, you will cross the Tiber to reach Trastevere. Famous for its cobbled streets and bohemian atmosphere, the unique beauty of strolling through its narrow alleys and slowly getting lost in its labyrinth of lanes is an experience like no other. The expert guide will lead you to a local bakery to savor the renowned “pizza bianca.” This crispy pizza, often served with olive oil and salt, is a Roman icon. In our tasting, we’ll pair it with local cured meats or the famous porchetta, another icon of Roman tradition. When these two excellences meet on the pizza bianca, the result is a perfect marriage of crunchiness and tenderness, intense aromas, and enveloping taste.
After delighting our palate in Trastevere, through the enchanting alleys of this timeless neighbourhood, we’ll cross the picturesque Tiber River to reach Tiber Island. Admire the panorama along the bridge and get ready to discover the flavors of Jewish cuisine.
Immerse yourself in the rich culinary tradition of the Jewish Ghetto, one of the oldest in the world where Roman cuisine blends with ancient Jewish tradition. At a local osteria, taste the renowned “carciofo alla giudia” a crispy and flavorful masterpiece that reflects the centuries-old culinary art of this community. Don’t forget to delight in the classic “amatriciana” and “cacio e pepe”, iconic dishes of Roman cuisine expertly prepared in the neighborhood’s restaurants.
Your tour culminates with a sweet touch: Roman gelato. Head to one of the artisanal ice cream shops in the historic center and taste a variety of flavors. This sweet finale will leave you with a satisfied smile, completing your culinary journey through magical Rome.
Whether you are passionate about history, food lovers, or both, this itinerary is an invitation to experience authentic Rome, where cultural heritage perfectly merges with the pleasures of the table. Bon voyage and buon appetito!
